If 7+2 is = to 11 who cares?
At one level clear thinking and logic is correct. But this driver has expressed another truth which I love so much.
For me it expresses the easy-going, relaxed attitude to life I find amongst many Ghanaians. Keeping the peace is important and this is made possible by the culture’s developed ability at conflict resolution.
This can frustrate some from other cultures where the issue of forcing the “truth” is the priority, no matter what the consequences.
I believe in rigorous thinking but also have learnt in Ghana that sometimes the best answer is “who cares?”
Oh Graham, there are times too that Ghanaians force issues, but hey, “who cares?” 🙂
I didnt want to comment on this but who cares? 🙂
Average annual income is about $1500; but, hey, who cares?
Believe it or not, a few months hence my cousin and I driving around Cantonments were met with – and I believe it is the very same taxi – this ‘moving’ Ghanaian ideology.
It provoked hilarity more than anything else, we narrowed in more on the “Efa wo ho ben”.
I forwarded this link to him. Thanks for the fond memories of home, “Efie ne fie”.
